Corumbau beach is simply stunning and all one expects from a land as exotic and wild as Brazil's Bahia east coast.

Sky blue waters, coconut groves, clear sands (over 2 km of them in contact with the Fazenda though it actually goes on for over 15 km), warm days and not a building block in site.

Of course, staying at a place like the Fazenda São Francisco do Corumbau makes it all the better. In every respect, this seaside hotel is a labour of love started up by a São Paulo couple who wanted a special place to get away from the big city (and boy is São Paulo big).

And it is the equal of the area in every respect: in the way it combines harmoniously with sea and sand, in its eco credentials and relaxed atmosphere.

What else should you expect when located on an open sandbar that stretches out into the sea. But it also comes with 167 hectares and manages to bring together the comfort of a luxury hotel with the charm, relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a beach house. That’s the best of both worlds in our opinion. This yin and yan effect, so to speak, is also mirrored in the way modern and spacious areas mix with the ebullient local nature at hand.

All in all there are only 10 rooms broken down as follows:

4 Individual bungalows (super deluxe 150m2 each);

2 rooms (upper level of main building;

2 bungalows (deluxe with 2 rooms each).

The owners, after all, initially established the Fazenda São Francisco, as an eco friendly home from home and not as a business project. All come with a spacious porch that takes in superb views of the ocean, contain bed linen and towels from Trousseau, air conditioner, mini bar, CD player and in-room safe.

The restaurant offers regional dishes made from local produce. In fact, the Fazenda’s own organic farm provides most of fruit and vegetables on offer and what’s on the menu mostly depends on the catch of the day.

Other amenities include a bar, room service, a telephone in each room with direct dialling, internet access in the main building, a living room, beach service and massages.

Location: Corumbau is situated in the extreme south of Bahia, between the cities of Porto Seguro and Prado.
