Thanks, in fact, goes to Henrique, a man of great taste and sensibility who created the “Owls Nest” when Pipa was still a small fishing village and a secret known practically only to surfers.

Set within 25 thousand square metres of Atlantic woods, wild flowers, birds and even an iguana or two, it is also to be found some 110 metres from the beach (please note, though, it is not right by the sea), and how beautiful it all is.

There are 23 bungalows and 6 apartments in all and the deluxe versions are simply huge and of superb quality taking in, as they do, a combination of scrumptious pastoral chic and antique art and furnishings.

The pool is also outstanding. Yet what really makes this place stand out is the human touch. We don’t think we’ve ever seen such joyful and equally efficient staff (perhaps working in such a paradise rubs off on everyone). Then there’s the breakfast, which is surely on of the most sumptuous around. It is, basically, a cornucopia of fresh fruit, juices, breads and eggs and yogurt.

In fact, you may need a guided tour of the breakfast table to get a full idea of what’s on offer. The in-house restaurant is also worth trying.

Given the abundant nature, relative proximity to the sea (if you’re lucky and go out to the beach at low tide you may be able to swim with the dolphins) we highly recommend it for a peaceful Brazilian getaway or, dare we say it, an exotic honeymoon.
