There are times on those dark, wet, cold wintery days that we let our imagination run off to paradisiacal places where the sun always shines, the sand is pure gold and we can smell the blue Ocean. And our dreams will probably include a place that will not be unlike the Ilha do Toque Toque.

“Toque” in the native Indian language means island, so this and the fact that it is located in a preserved area of natural beauty near São Sebastião, immediately tells us something about the place.

This area of São Paulo, some 2 ½ hours by car from the big city, is absolutely beautiful and takes in mountains, the Atlantic Ocean and forests for good measure. The Ilha do Toque Toque is the only hotel within a 6 mile radius in this little corner of paradise, so if you want secluded, you’ve got secluded. Sitting comfortably some 50 metres above the sea, with amazing views to match, it is an easy walk to a couple of the best beaches in the whole area – Toque Toque Grande and Calhetas beaches. Calheta is only accessed by foot.

There are twelve rooms in all. Each one an exclusive suite divided into three categories of luxury. Presidential, Superior and Standard.

They all come with a private terrace, fantastic vistas and a great dose of wood furniture. The differences amongst the three types are the private jacuzzi (Presidential and Superior), the view and the size.

Now, being a place that is close to nature, it stands to reason that Ilha do Toque Toque takes its environmental credentials seriously. Indeed, ecology was at the forefront of Renata’s and Edson’s minds when they built the Toque Toque. Its is mainly built from ecological bricks and wood. Water is captured from a waterfall and solar energy largely heats up the water. The products may be natural and basic but the service and gastronomy most certainly is not! Cuisine is actually pretty sophisticated. Meals can be taken at the restaurant which, like much of the hotel faces out onto the beautiful ocean. Breakfast is also superb.

Accommodation - All rooms include facilities such as queen size beds, air conditioning, "Alexandre Hercovitz" robes, WIFI, mini-bar, digital safe, private verandah with a view, telephone, hair dryer, DVD player.

"PRESIDENTIAL" A 2-room high standard apartment, large living/dining room with a 37 inch LCD Full Satelite TV, mini kitchen, a verandah with private ofuro and a stunning ocean view. Built with eco-bricks, equipped with solar energy, wooden floor and reclaimed wood furniture. This is a unit for those looking for comfort with exclusivity and refinement.

SUPERIOR SUITE This suite features eco bricks and eucalypus wood in keeping with the hotel's close affinity with nature. It lends an excellent ocean view from its deck with its private ofuro or jacuzzi. It has also a charming decoration featuring splendor, privacy and exclusivity. It is the ideal suite for honeymooners.

STANDARD SUITE  You will be surprised with this suite that has a partial ocean view. Comfortable suites with queensize bed and verandah with a relaxing hammock. This suite accommodates up to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 Children.
