The best of British style – and shopping heaven!
Located in Beaufort Gardens, a quiet tree filled street in the heart of Knightsbridge, shopaholics will surely see this lovely hotel as a little piece of heaven. Not only for what it is, as if that wasn’t enough, but for where it is. Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the designer stores of Sloane Street are only a few minutes away. So what if you are a culture vulture and not a shopper? Well, the Victoria and Albert, Natural History and Science Museums, three of London’s most amazing museums are just a stones throw away. There’s simply no excuse to do nothing here. Yet if that’s what you decide to do the Knightsbridge is a great place for this too. Sedate and relaxing, it seems a world away from the commerce and traffic nearby.
As you walk in, the hotel's reception area is dominated by a specially commissioned sculpture by Carol Sinclair and two collages of dogs by Peter Clark. The lobby leads into the Drawing Room. The two drawing rooms are just off the lobby. The first has an African feel and is designed in earthy colours, black and white. The Library is more romantic in soft neutrals, pale pinks and greens. There is original art by many British artists, including a stunning sculpture in the lobby, specially designed fabrics, quirky book-lights and specially commissioned ceramics. Both drawing room and library boast French sandstone fireplaces, and, in the tradition of Firmdale Hotels, there is a fully stocked honesty bar.
