Owned by the Ponte family and dating back to the 16th century, the hotel El Patio is situated in the middle of a vast 60-acre banana plantation, just 2 km from the legendary village of Garachico, in the volcanic coastal region of northeastern Tenerife.

The name is most appropriate as it boasts an enormous patio full of palm trees and plants. The outbuildings, coach houses, lofts, and wine cellars have all been renovated. Every care has been taken to preserve the original charm and rustic setting, and at the same time offer the comfort and standards of modern accommodation.

Due to its historical, artistic and ecological value, the authorities have declared the house a protected site.

Places to see

Botanical Gardens (Puerto Cruz)
Will impress even those who are not interested in flowers'. The gardens feature an incredible collection of tropical and sub-tropical trees and plants. Open daily 09.00 - 18.00. Situated in La Paz.

Icod de los Vinos
The town itself is a nice settlement with buildings in the colonial style and is well known for its wine production.

Orotava
Is a lovely town located in a really paradisiacal valley with manor houses built in the island's traditional style.

Is a small village of unique beauty with a port that once was the most important at the whole island.

Activities

On the plantation there are a number of footpaths of different colours for you to walk along the cliff tops or through the centre of the plantation. You can play tennis or croquet, practice your golf or just take a seat in a special place to listen to nature and see a spectacular sunset.

Located in the rural park of Teno, the different municipalities offer a variety of roures which the El Patio can advise you on. The best known nature sites are Monte del Agua, Charcas de Erjos, Caserios de Masca, Teno Alto and the Route of the Volcanoes.

There are companies in the area that organize walks, sea diving, sea water kayaks and mountain bike activities.
The Buenavista Golf (an 18 hole par 72 course) is 15 minutes away. Also close by is the Centre with swimming pool, Gym, Sauna, Turkish bath and physiotherapy facilities.
