Attracted by the idea of waking up in an oasis of calm, broken only by the singing of the birds?In that case, La Abubilla may be a hard place to beat, for this is a wonderful country house that has been exquisitely decorated by a famous interior designer, who specialises in creating small hotels with their own unique magic.

It is also hard to believe that all this is available only some 100 km away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid. All of Abubilla’s four suites have been completely personalised and named after a species of tree found in the region: "El Fresno" (The Ash Tree), "La Encina" (The Spanish Oak), "El Roble" (The Oak Tree) and "El Acebo" (The Holly Tree) but the attention to detail does not stop there - wooden window frames and doors and hand-painted bathrooms are some of the little delights. The hotel itself is made up of two buildings that are divided by a square open-air patio. Here guests can enjoy breakfast weather permitting.

The top floor affords a small space with tables for games. The ground floor boasts an attractive hand painted reception desk, restaurant and lounge with a fireplace.

Freshly cooked meals are served in the dining room. Very special indeed.
