Simple, tasteful and charming Galician house.

What is the one word to describe the Casa Perfeuto Maria? Absolutely charming! Well two actually, but it’s just to emphasise the point that this typical 19th century house has charisma in abundance, especially if what one is looking for is that rustic Galician ambience of amber stone walls, corn stores located up from the ground on spindly legs and wood beamed ceilings.

The house also manages to combine different raw materials, such as stone, iron and wood to good effect, so nothing is lost in terms of decoration, which in our opinion is tastefully done. This is typical Galicia at its best – simple, unpretentious, welcoming - and with the house’s wide open spaces and large windows to take in the wonderful views and natural light, guests will be enveloped in it, the rather smallish size of the rooms (for Galicia at least) being entirely mitigated by the house’s ambience.

As the Casa Perfeuto Maria was built in 1868 within a fluvial valley in the interior of one of the region’s many “rias” everything is in place for truly peaceful stay here. There are also many walks to enjoy, with the house as base, though in our opinion having a drink by the cosy fireplace as night time beckons (preferably with a glass of fortified wine) is a delightful way to spend some time, with excellent cuisine to boot.
