Boutique hideaway in Ibiza.

The word “xuxu” is sometimes used in Spain and France as a term of endearment. It basically means cute or charming, and the meaning fits in perfectly with this boutique agroturismo. This particular cutie may only be 20 minutes away from downtown Ibiza (15 minutes from the airport) yet the sense as you arrive via the dirt track is of a real hideaway, tucked away, as it is, on the west side of Ibiza, on top of a hill within a verdant tropical garden holding a fantastic swimming pool and looking over the pretty village of San José and the island of Conejera.

On top of these natural attributes, the Can Xuxu has been wonderfully restored by Alexandre Narakas, an urbane Parisian whose background in fashion kept him in good stead when restoring the Can Xuxu. He kept the original Ibiza style and added a touch of Asian.

The new exterior bungalows, for example, have exotic names such as “Sumatra” and “Java” and not without reason - set within the luscious garden; you could almost be forgiven for thinking this was Bali.

Can Xuxu is definitely a cosmopolitan proposition and the furnishings used throughout are a testament to his travels, having picked up pieces from all around the world. With only nine rooms, the place never seems full, plus there are the private terraces, chill out corners with sea view and pavilions everywhere - whether Ibiza or Java style - that leaves guests under no doubt that Can Xuxu is a special hideaway - a haven of peace with a scent of orange blossom and lavender.

This peace and quiet may not be exactly conducive to kids and rooms don’t come with televisions, but if you want to relax for a week or so, Can Xuxu is the place for you.

Final note: Can Xuxu can only accept children under 15 years old upon special request.
