A simply delightful villa in the medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes and only 10 minutes from Nice Airport. Villa Estelle ticks all the right boxes – location, history, beauty, charm and, last but not least, true French style value for money.

First location. It is bang in the heart of the French Riviera (Côte d'Azur) but not in the more commercial crowded coastal area. Rather, it is comfortably nestled between Nice and Cannes in the wonderful medieval village of Haut-de-Cagnes, a heritage site classified as a “Monument of France” no less. In fact, you will find this 14th Century inn close by to the Grimaldi Castle and Museum, whilst the Renoir Museum is not too far away either (see activities below).

Now the first thing you will probably notice upon arrival is the villa’s enormous terrace, complete with Italian style columns. This leads to the superb Mediterranean terraced gardens replete with palm and orange trees, bougainvillea and white laurel shrubs and it immediately sets the scene for a stay here, given the pervading air of peace and tranquility.

Intimacy is also pretty much guaranteed. With only 5 large rooms spread out over the house, space is not a problem. Bedrooms are also ample, personalized (no two are the same) and tastefully decorated with both antiques and contemporary pieces. This subtle mix extends into the public areas which take in modern art and older paintings, velvet draperies and fine linen curtains with the warmth of the red ochre hues of Provence.

Any downsides? Although Villa Estelle provides a hearty breakfast served on the large Italian-style terrace we mentioned above, complete with wonderful views of the sea, there is no in-house restaurant as such. However, Haut-de-Cagnes offers up a great variety of restaurants to choose from. Getting there via the narrow winding roads may also be a bit tricky for 1st timers. Once you unload your bags you must drive downtown and park your car, but such are the vagaries of staying in a medieval French village. But believe us when we say the trip is well worth it for the end result is great value for money, location and French style à la Provence.

Perfect for either the lone traveller or a couple, this lovely tranquil room has its own little pergola terrace area in front of the door leading onto the main terrace of the Villa. Ochre Guest room - Suitable for two adults, this room gives out onto the Florentine terrace of the Villa. Large private bathroom with wooden floor, bathtub and shower head, twin / king-size bed, air-conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, mini bar and safe.

Salmon Junior Suite - Ideally suited to a family of four, this spacious double room is situated on the first floor of the Villa and is complemented by a large bathroom with bathtub and shower head, twin / king-size bed, air-conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, mini bar and safe.

Celadon Suite - SEA VIEW

Perfectly suited to a family of four, this large suite is situated on the first floor of the Villa. It comprises a hallway, a small living room and its bathroom with bathtub and shower head, king-size bed, air-conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, mini bar and safe.

Estelle Suite - PRIVATE TERRACE

This luxurious suite is ideal for honeymoon couples or a family as it has ample floor space to accommodate up to 3 children. Situated on the lower level of the Villa, this suite has its own private terrace where guests can soak up the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet. The bathroom has a magnificent solid marble bath as well as a separate shower. Twin / king-size bed, flat screen satellite TV, mini bar and safe.
