You’re in for a treat if you stay at the 42 Rue Victor Hugo (42 RVH), that’s for sure - and the service starts before you even arrive, as the wonderfully welcoming Peter is more than happy to pick you up from the train station or airport, for example.

Once you get to 42 RVH, you won’t be disappointed either. The house is of historic and architectural importance, the site of which originally housed a 14th Century Augustine convent, whilst the exterior and magnificent stone entrance staircase, with its ornate wrought iron balustrade, are protected as “Monuments Historiques”. Wonderfully plush decoration in both the apartments (Mezzanine Suite and Apartment Suite) means that the 42 RVH is equal to its history.

Both are extremely large with high ceilings and dazzling original ornamental particulars. The furniture is just gorgeous, wherever you are in 42 RVH. And with the level of service provided by Peter and his charming wife (who both live in the premises so are always on hand to help you out without ever being obtrusive) it means you get your own five star apartment from which to enjoy this wonderful area.

Oh, and the location is pretty special too. Though hard to park and somewhat noisier in the summer, the fact is that it is right in the heart of beautiful historic Carcassonne, a World Heritage town, with cobbled streets and one of the largest medieval areas in the whole of Europe. Any downsides? Well, there are only two apartments so you need to book well in advance to ensure that luxurious and romantic stay you’ve been looking for.
