This is a thoroughly friendly family run hotel located in an outstanding village – Fontaine de Vaucluse. Well, actually it’s a minute or so away from the centre of the village, but no matter. It is but a beautiful short walk.

Once you get there what you get is an old converted water mill in the middle of a charming garden, swimming pool and terraced area. Now, the interior of the Hotel du Poete may be elegantly and tastefully decorated in the Provencal style, but one of the highlights of a stay here is surely the garden and pool. Just magical and in summer there’s the added bonus of being able to take a superb breakfast on the terrace, under the glow of the sun and in total peace.

Even so, all rooms and suites come with the full works of air conditioning, satellite TV and mini-bar. Whilst there is no in house restaurant, there are several options in the village, all of which are excellent. Are there any downsides to the this hotel of friendly hosts, lovely garden, beautiful village and countryside? Being such an attractive area does pull in the crowds in high summer so have this in mind when booking.

Personally we love the period of May to June and September to October. Whatever the time of year, though, make the most of the village itself and atmospheric river. A beautiful stay awaits you.
