Stylish and chic hideaway in Provence.

Provence – rustic, typical, serene and beautiful; well, you can cut out the first two when referring to the Domaine des Andéols for a start. It is anything but rustic or typical and the operative words here are surely vanguard chic. Given the sophistication of its design the Domain des Andéols and its nine houses would not look out of place in trendy London, Paris or Barcelona and it’s no coincidence that des Andéols is used regularly for fashion and photo shoots.

Modern art is everywhere, the air of Philippe Starck imbues the furnishings, and designer furniture is not only comfortable but also attention-grabbing. Each of the of the Domaine des Andéol’s nine guesthouses also come with kitchenettes and dining rooms. From the Lovers House to the Forever House and House from Afar, each one is unique, yet unlike many other so called “design” houses, they are also ample and have a soul, having been decorated by pieces of Alain Ducasse’s own art collection, acquired over many years and journeys, and a number of which are extremely rare and unusual.

Add to this the excellent location of Domaine des Andéols, set as it is 5 km outside Saint Saturnin les Apt within an enormous, and still active, agricultural estate full of olive groves and lavender fields, then marriage of top notch design and setting makes absolute sense. Ok, it’s not cheap but it does make for a pretty unique and stylish stay in Provence and you can’t say that about many places.
