It is not easy to describe the spirit of the le Senat in a few lines. That’s because it is at once classical and contemporary, cool and warm. An apparent contradiction, perhaps, but thanks to the major overhaul it received in 2003, le Senat has managed to turn into a boutique style hotel without losing its soul, and as we only know too well in our travels, that is no easy feat to achieve.

But the secret is in the attention to detail and here le Senat scores very highly indeed. Gone are the plain decor, lack of air conditioning and low level lighting, for example, and in their place are materials selected from the finest purveyors:, Flipo and Hartley wool carpets, Nobilis, Bernardaud china, Osborne and Patrick Frey fabrics, Epéda mattresses, etc. In layman’s terms, what this means are fluffy towels and wonderfully comfortable beds where a good night’s sleep is virtually guaranteed.

By the way, if for some reason you can’t sleep then the bar is open 24 hours a day! Rooms also benefit from a lot of natural light and a few lucky guests will even be able to take breakfast on their own private terrace. Despite the many changes, however, one thing certainly remains - the superb location on the crest of the hill in Saint Germain. It is literally only a stone’s throw away from the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Romantic Latin Quarter.

So all in all, a hotel that radiates harmony and style whether you are in the lobby, library, patio or that 24 hour bar.
