Lady Carmela is a most enticing proposition. Behind it lies the tallest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna, covered in green woods, fiery red lava and white winter snow. Behind it, the eastern coast of Sicily pointing out towards the blue Ionian Sea - from the black rocks of Catania to the sandy beaches of Taormina. If you also add the scent of the orange groves and living kaleidoscope of subtropical plants then what you get is a pretty a unique place. An enticing lady indeed is Lady Carmela (Donna means lady in Italian) and she looks pretty good for her age too.

Built in the 19th century, it dominates the ten thousand square metre nursery garden surrounding it and has been furnished with the most modern of comforts. It's seventeen rooms, whether Suites (3), junior suites (9) or doubles (5) are all exceptionally well decorated, but its not just the bedrooms. The public areas, which take in meeting rooms, reading rooms and a fantastic cellar are all ideal places for relaxing and getting away from it all. Outside, apart from the fabulous gardens we've already mentioned, there's the pool, solarium and large terraces too choose from, and it goes without saying that the views are fantastic.

One thing we cannot adequately put into words, however, is the aroma – the essence of citrus fruit mixed with Sicilian flora is just wonderful and so typically Mediterranean. But the Sicilian touch is also everywhere.
