This wine farm in the heart of Chianti (Tuscany) dates back to the 16th century and has now been converted into the Fattoria Tregole B&B.

It can best be described as a simple, no frills sort of place set in a wonderful location and with fabulous views over Chianti. In addition to wine, they still produce their grappa and even olive oil. The incredibly welcoming owners (another plus point for the Tregole) have remodelled two apartments in pure Tuscan style, with wooden–beam ceilings, terra–cotta floors and a delightful fireplace for chilly days. The five rooms – one of which a suite in the ground floor may be “old world” in ambience with furniture typical of the region but all are super comfortable and immaculately clean.

Breakfast is generous and can be served in the dining room or on a terrace with a pergola – and twice a week the landlady prepares a traditional Tuscan menu, accompanied by local wines. The ample garden has shaded nooks and crannies that are an open invitation to relax and escape from the external world. And let’s not forget the charming swimming pool – or the hexagonal-based Renaissance chapel within the grounds. The village of Castellina is only 3 miles away and has several nice various restaurants. There is an Etruscan necropolis in Fonterutoli, which is only twenty minutes walking distance away.

And should you wish to exchange the bucolic life for some urban sophistication, the stunning cities of Florence and Siena are relatively near by.

Appartamento "Vigneto" 4/5P (110 mq) Has a big parlour with a fireplace, an adjacent kitchen which is well equipped, a double room, a bedroom with a double bed, two baths, a bed area on the mezzanine level, and a furnished terrace.
