The Golf Hotel is located on a hill overlooking the city of Gorizia, in an oasis of tranquillity where some of the best wines of the Region are produced.
The building itself is a noble 15th century building, with large rooms (each named after a famous wine of Collio),, wooden ceilings and original period furnishings, all bringing the old world regal atmosphere back to life. Even the paintings date back to the 700/800s.
Next door lies the Castle of the Counts of Formentini (owners of the Golf Hotel), which houses a prestigious restaurant, which regularly provides medieval banquets, complete with recipes and costumes with jesters included (book ahead if interested). To burn off those calories the grounds of the hotel come with a swimming pool and a tennis courts.
In short, a truly great place to stay, enjoy and savour. Taste, sight, touch, hearing, smell. That just about covers all the senses at the Golf Hotel.
