Il Frantoio seems to be one of those perfect places and it is definitely one of our favourite accommodations in the whole of Puglia.
Set in 70 hectares of olive groves and poppy fields, just outside the beautiful town of Ostuni, this sixteenth-century masseria not only has it’s own antique olive press but also produces the ingredients that Rosalba Ciannamea transforms each evening into a 10 course gastronomic voyage of discovery. The scent of orange blossom floats over the huge tree lined stone courtyard, where guests dine at candlelight on warm summer nights.
The interiors are filled with carefully selected antiques and the decoration of the eight rooms, which still have their original wooden floors, is tasteful to the highest degree. In the morning a you will be rewarded by a full lush breakfast, which includes a dazzling selection of homemade jams, bread and cakes. All this combined with Armando and Rosalba’s unrivalled hospitality. All in all, it gives this place it’s own very special touch.
On the down side, it may not have a swimming pool, but guests instead have the chance to make the most of two beautiful beaches on the nearby Adriatic coast. Others might simply want to venture out into the surrounding landscape, unspoiled, inspiring and culturally rich as it is.
