If you are looking for a hotel in Rome that’s a little special, has an excellent position in the historic centre and wonderful, wonderful staff, you’ve found it! The Caesar House is a great example of really genuine hospitality; Lucia, Giulia and all the rest of the staff are superbly helpful and can’t do enough to make your stay a pleasure. We like to think our hotel reviews are honest and we don’t flatter for the sake of it so we will be open and say that the price you pay here could buy you a pool, 24hr room service and possibly a slightly larger room in one of the more modern purpose-built hotels found slightly away from the centre of Rome.

The Caesar House will not suit everybody but it will be perfect for those who privilege relaxed and extremely friendly staff over corporate-style lobbies and a great location by the Colosseum over a trouser press! Having said that, The Caesar House has all of the amenities you would expect in a larger, more commercial hotel, and more, with breakfast delivered to the room and informal wine-tastings held on occasions.

It is, though, a little hard to define being something between a very upmarket bed and breakfast and a less pretentious, more relaxed boutique hotel. Imagine staying with a distant, kind-hearted Aunt with quite a bit of money who hasn’t seen you for a long time and is ever ready to do as much as she can for you. So, what is it actually like? Well, to start with, the position is second to none – located at the foot of the Esquiline hill, a maximum of 5 minutes walk from the Colosseum, 15 minutes to the Trevi Fountain, 100 yards from the Roman Forum and adjacent to the very cute area known as Monti, similar in style to Trastevere.

There are 11 rooms, all individually decorated, some more classic in style, others romantic in tones. There is a breakfast room for those who opt to eat outside of their room, a lounge, an exercise room with machines and Turkish bath. Ayurvedic, hot stones and traditional massage treatments are available as well as innovative jogging tours through the historic sites and quarters of the city.

The Caesar House is simply about relaxation and top-class service in a friendly environment with an excellent location giving access to the many wonderful restaurants, historic sites and beautiful old quarters of Rome.
