Hotel Type: Hotel

A wonderfully located Rome hotel, with plenty of character to boot.
The Santa Maria is certainly not the type of hotel you imagine to find in a bustling downtown city, and certainly not one as energetic as Rome. Located in the narrow streets of Trastevere, just a few steps from the Piazza Santa Maria, this small Rome hotel is a Pandora’s box of delightful surprises, a real refuge of calm laid out within a labyrinthine layout of colourful narrow streets. Within this backdrop, and spread around the backyard of the surrounding buildings overlooking it’s courtyard, one can find the rooms, which are located on the ground floor, the end result of which is a large open space that gives the place a lovely airy atmosphere.
The large orange tree lined patio is filled with chairs and tables where you can relax in the afternoon sun while sipping your macchiato, all this in the centre of this historic neighborhood, famous for it’s many restaurants and local bars. Though the hotel dates back to the 17th century cloisters, it was completely refurbished in 2000. The room’s decoration is simple but perfectly comfortable making it a superb base from which to discover Roma.
The Santa Maria’s location alone would make sure of that, given its location in one of the most ancient and characteristic districts of Rome, where guests can easily walk to the city’s historical and archaeological center.
