A wonderfully located and authentic Rome hotel located in the heart of one its most typical quarters.

The Villa della Fonte is one of our favourite value for money hotels in Rome. Simple, no nonsense, spotlessly clean and really well located in a typical residential Trastevere quarter, it really does earn the title of "hidden gem". With its maze of cobble streets cars can’t drive down the road, so this is pure Roma without the drone of tourists and cars - one full of folklore, traditional restaurants and bars - yet it is still only a few metres away from the Piazza Santa Maria and within walking distance from some of Rome major attractions. (Having said that, of course, where ever you are in Rome you'll be near a major attracttion).

As for the Villa della Fonte itself, it started off life as a 17th century palace built on Roman ruins. It was fully refurbished a few years back, however, the upshot of which is that it does not lack any creature comforts.

The simple rooms are more than adequate, unless what guests are looking for is absolute luxury.

There are few public areas, but the terrace where breakfast is served, weather permitting, is delightful and some guests swear the coffee served here is the best in Italy!

In short, the Villa della Fonte very much retains the spirit of the locality and given its reasonable price and unpretentious charm makes it a Secretplace in every sense.
