Hotel Gutkowski
Hotel Type: Hotel
Environment: Historic Quarters
Number of Rooms: 25
Style: Design
The Hotel Gutkowski may have a northern European name but its sensibilities are pure southern Italian. Situated on the eastern seaboard of the island of Ortigia - in the historic centre of Siracusa - this charming accommodation overlooks the sea and is made up of 2 old buildings, which originally housed the local fishermen and craftsmen.
One of the things we love about the Hotel Gutkowski is that it has been restored in a contemporary style, yet remains respectful of the Sicilian tradition. It boasts natural colours in gentle hues, an intimate interior and a friendly atmosphere typical of this hospitable island.
Individuality is also the order of the day as every room is slightly different to each other and as a rule decorated in accordance with its position in the building, Some of the rooms, for example, face the sea, others overlook the rooftops or face a typical old street. This all impacts on the furnishings.
All rooms, however, include both traditional Sicilian furniture mixed with modern pieces, some of which have been specifically designed for the hotel.
On the ground floor there are a sitting room area with a fireplace, a small meeting room, the reception and the breakfast room. On the top there are two terraces overlooking the sea. Breakfast is a real treat: there are organic products, local food and seasonal fruit; the breakfast room is large and the atmosphere is relaxing.

Caffé Gutkowski
The Caffé Gutkowski is inside, and part of, the hotel. In winter, it opens from 15 to 19, for a tea or a hot chocolate, always accompanied by our petite patisserie. In the evenings, you can start your night out with an aperitivo, and then stay over for dinner. Everyday, a different menu, according to seasonable typical products. In summertime you can dine out, just in front of the Old Bulwark (Bastioni di San Giovanello) that protects the island from the sea, or under the pergola.
