Breathtaking scenery, warm hosts, historic house and a fantastic breakfast - the B & B Il Fornaccio in a nutshell. But we’ll expand a little bit.

The breathtaking scenery can be in part explained by its location 500 metres above sea level in an isolated and wonderfully pretty location. It may be secluded but it’s still pretty easy to get to by car or even public transport.

In effect it is at the centre point the olive groves and agricultural land. Views seem to ho on for ever and even take in vistas of that “quite attractive” city Florence as well as Fiesole and the surrounding hills.

By warm hosts we mean that Eleonora spoils guests something rotten.

Inside the Il Fornaccio is made up of two large traditional rooms, with wooden beams, terracotta floors and, of course, those fantastic views. One of the rooms can take up to four persons if need be and so is suitable for a family. The other can accommodate up to three persons.

Outside, guest can relax in the gardens taking in those views or perhaps simply rest under the large and rather old elm tree (in fact the Il Fornaccio was previously a farm known as the "dell Olmo" (Elm tree).

Location

Despite its secluded setting, Il Fornaccio is only situated some ten minutes by car from Florence. It can also be easily reached by public transport. A Bus stops only some 700 metres from the house and the nearest train station, Caldine, is some six kilometres away.

In short, what will be your final thoughts as you will leave the place? Probably “Wish I could have stayed longer!”

Location

Il Fornaccio is located on the hillside of the Olmo, some 500 meters above sea level, sited panoramically, ten minutes by car from Fiesole and from Florence (easily reached by public transport, 700 meters from a bust stop, and six kilometers from the train station of Caldine).

Its proximity to three major roads leading out of town, Via Faentina, Via Bolognese and Via Forlivese, makes it an ideal point of departure for excursions in the Mugello, Val di Sieve e Valdarno.
