Murano Palace
Hotel Type: Hotel
Environment: Island
Number of Rooms: 6
Style: Classic
If you want to visit and enjoy the beauty of Venice, you don’t necessarily have to stay in the centre of Venice itself.
The whole area is an archipelago of small islands that include the Lido and Murano, the latter being especially famous for its glass blowing industry. Any place to stay here must include the Murano Palace as a prime candidate.
Firstly, this 18th century palatial house is located right in the heart of the island and even overlooks the lovely glassmakers canal (Rio dei Vetrai). If the location is great then the hotel itself is no less impressive. On top of its history and well appointed elegance, high quality period pieces are used throughout, both in the public areas and the six rooms. Then there’s the friendliness of Caesar and his wife, Donatella.
Together with their sons, they make the Murano Palace a home from home and have myriad of suggestions to provide a memorable stay here. Being just a mile to the north of Venice proper, it is easy to get to and offers regular fast connections not only to Venice itself but also Lido, Burano, Torcello and Sant’Erasmo (all of which should be visited in their own right).
The whole place will, for many, provide a welcome counterpoint to the hustle and tourism of Venice. The pace is slightly slower and culture vultures will love what Murano has to offer, including many architectural gems, churches and basilicas, whilst not forgetting the whole culture of glass production (a visit to the glass museum is a must, for example).
