For Venice, this hotel is actually a rather modern affair. Design orientated and updated elegance in the heart of the city, rather than old world “Liberty Style” charms that Venice is famous for.

That’s quite refreshing in a way. Inside the hotel, it can be best described as an amalgamation of fashionable, modern style with only a slight, sexy, hint of 18th-century Venetian style.

Most rooms, though not large, have great views to the canal, whilst the remaining vistas are of the courtyard, which is one of the hotel’s most splendid features. The superior rooms in particular are bright and well furnished with a courtesy kit (see below):

Location: right in the very centre of the characteristic and historic Cannaregio district (that means 10 minutes walk from St Marks Square). Though near the centre, Al Canal Regio still retains an away from it all feel with “Campielli” (small gardens) dotted throughout the quarters. It is quite easy to get to – basically you just get off the Ca D’Oro stop and walk to the first bridge and continue past St Mark’s Square with its historical cafes, extraordinary basilica and gothic profile of the Ducal Palace.
