Casa Martini
Hotel Type: Hotel
Environment: City
Number of Rooms: 5
Style: Unpretentious
A small, authentic and charming hotel in the heart of Venice If ever there was a value for money accommodation that is simultaneously near “the action” and far from the madding crowd, then the Locanda Martini would be it.
First of all, the Locanda is located in one of Venice’s liveliest area, replete with shops, bars and open-air markets. St Marks Square is only 15 minutes away and the Jewish Quarters, monasteries, palaces and churches are all in the vicinity. It is also only a few metres away from Guglie Bridge as well as one of the city’s loveliest canals - the di Cannaregio. In truth, being located in one of Venice’s busiest streets may also mean some noise. Yet, in all likelihood you’ll probably miss the Casa Martini as you pass by.
There isn’t even a sign outside welcoming you to this unpretentious little hotel and the upshot is that you’ll probably feel as if you are staying in a private Venice abode, rather than hotel. Any lack of normal hotel facilities are more than mitigated by the intimate feel of the place. Intimate does not necessarily mean small, however. The common room, for example, is enormous and great for a meeting. As for the rooms, all have been renovated to an excellent standard and, true to form, are more than comfortable, having been furnished to good taste.
During the winter, breakfast is served in the cosy salon with a balcony overlooking the said Guglie Bridge and in the warmer months you can enjoy your breakfast on the terrace - an exclusive and quiet spot amid greenery and flowers, providing picturesque vista. Terrace with a View, so to speak.
