The "Lilac House" is utterly wonderful, charm,comfort, serenity , full of character, tasteful, smooth.

Is it the wonderful renovation of a centuries old riad that does it? Is it the lovely hosts? The beautiful sun terrace? It’s all this and more besides. Let’s start with geography and layout. Being located in a pedestrian side street and a 10 minute walk from the beach gives it an ideal location in Essaouira, itself one of the most laid back and charming towns in Morocco.

Its ten rooms, situated around the vast delicately tinted lilac courtyard, from whence it gets its name, are also just so sweet and comfortable. Nice little touches abound, such as rose petals on the beds, candles and tiled walls in some, which all makes for a great atmosphere. Add to this the genteel background music and everything is guaranteed to induce a good night’s rest, so perhaps its just as well that breakfast can be served at any time – you may just oversleep.

Then there’s one of the house’s “piece de resistance” – the terrace, which looks out onto the beyond and is another open invitation to unwind and relax. Just sit on one of the loungers, sip a mint tea and enjoy. Superb, or as a past guest put it “Amazing place! with now a Wellness inside the riad with massage and esthetic: Superb!!
