Undoubtedly, the people of Fez are a friendly bunch and it shows in the hosts of the places we have selected here. All of them are extremely welcoming, authentic and do their utmost to make your stay as wonderful as possible.

The Riad Attarine is no exception to this rule. Salima and Hugues welcome you as part of their family and treat you not as a not a guest but a friend, which is not only rewarding in itself but extremely useful. These are the sort of friends you need to make the most out of this simply fascinating city – knowing the things to do, where to eat, what to see, straight from the horse’s mouth, as it were and not from some out of date guide.

After a stay here, you will also probably agree with us that the Riad Attarine itself should also be one of the places to see in Fez for its authenticity and good taste. This 5 bedroom Riad is laid out around a large courtyard, wonderfully decorated in the traditional manner with all things exotic and oriental. It makes for a warm, tranquil and soothing atmosphere that carries on into the rooms and the living room where after a convivial dinner, many guests head to for that last cup of Moroccan tea before heading for bed.

Of course, an alternative to the living room may be the terrace with its panoramic views of the Medina: Pictures here don’t do it justice as it is not possible to capture the essence of the scents, colours and tastes of the old city with actually being there, but it is truly impressive. The attention to the wellbeing of guests even takes into account collecting them at the airport or station. The area where the Riad Attarine may be scenic but it is hard to get to at the first attempt so its no problem for Salima and Hugues to collect.

It’s the sort of touch that makes Attarine special.
