Great Hotel for beach lovers and surfers alike – but also much more.

The beautifully long sandy beach and great Atlantic breakers ensure the title of wind surfing capital of Morocco goes to the lovely laid back coastal town of Essaouira. It is the sort of place that cool dudes and surfers alike will love.

Now, with a location that is just over the road from said beach and no more than a couple of hundred metres from the Medina, the Ocean Vagabond is particularly rooted in this laid back ambience.

You get the scene, life really is a beach here, and that for many would be enough of a reason to stay. But the discerning amongst us will also find the Ocean Vagabond is great place in its own right.

Great particularly for those who wish to stay outside the confines of the Medina; great for those also looking for a place with a pool (see below - you won’t get that inside the old town) and great for those with kids, as there’s a greater sense of space here and plenty of area to run amok.

Decoration combines sophisticated French sensibilities with Moroccan design. The 14 rooms split between the first and second floors, also open onto private terraces with a view. And boy do we mean view, each one providing a blue tinted spectacle of sun, sea and sky.

If this panorama isn't enough, then the garden with its heated, albeit smallish, swimming pool and terrace commands fantastic 360 degree view of the Medina and Essaouira bay.

Funky, laid back, spacious, luminous and with pretty good restaurant to boot (Moroccan and international specialties), the Ocean Vagabond is just the sort of place to sit back and enjoy some mint tea in the lounge, perhaps take a DVD from the hotel's extensive library, treat yourself to some Spa treatments (available on request) or, of course, simply take a dip in the beautiful blue waters.
