Of all of Amsterdam’s beautiful canals - and boy there are many – the Keizersgracht is without doubt one of the most stunning and well located.

Historic in that 17th century style, close by to many museums, centrally located and oozing character, it is a perfect base for getting to know Amsterdam. And guess where the Toren is located? Right on this very canal, literally on the water’s edge, and just as quirky and atmospheric as the Keizersgracht canal itself.

We say quirky for there’s something rather theatrical about the Toren. Just look at the decor. Some may find it over the top but there’s no denying the chandeliers, thick pile carpets, sober colours and baroque style furnishings make for a pretty spectacular effect. And all 38 rooms, though individually decorated, carry on this ambience. But on top of the location and decoration the other ace up the Toren’s is the superb service. Nothing is too much for guests. From the fantastic room service to the concierge who can help with tickets for anything that’s going on in Amsterdam.

One point to mention is that the Toren is actually located in two buildings, though both are very close to each other and there is nothing between them in terms of class and quality, as both are top notch. Rooms: As mentioned, there are 38 rooms in all – all individually styled and utterly comfortable. They range from singles to superior and deluxe doubles with accompanying whirlpools plus canal or garden views. Those looking for that something extra should opt for the Special deluxe double or bridal suites, which are not only large but also come with double Jacuzzis. The garden cottage even has a memorable steam shower.
