You can’t get more secluded or away from it all than the Casa Ermida de Santa Catarina. Bathed by the waters of the Caia Reservoir and integrated within old oak trees and stunning natural beauty, Alentejo style.

Water is in ever constant view. The feeling is also one of total seclusion, little seems to pass by here, but not at the expense of mod cons or sophistication. Very much the contrary. Getting there by way of the beautiful countryside and the dirt track opens up the senses and feeling of expectation. You won’t be disappointed when you get there. What was a traditional long and rectangular farmhouse with a smaller caretaker’s house, has been wonderfully transformed into a superb modern seven room sophisticated (rustic chic?) accommodation, where clever and original use of wood and glass has created an even greater sense of space and serenity.

The whole place is a first class ticket to being at one with nature. In fact, it is part of the Natura 2000 network and some of the landscapes are wonderful. It is excellent for nature watching the area is a sanctuary for migrating birds including different types of birds of prey, bustards and lapwings. Rooms: Six special en suite rooms, two of which are doubles with an extra mezzanine bed, and four are twins, all on the ground floor. One large suite with a double bed and private porch, tadelakt bathroom covering the whole of the upper floor. Great views of the estate and beyond. All rooms come with central heating whilst the suite also has air conditioning.

Simply superb.

Final Note: Children under 8 years old accepted only if part of a group that occupies all rooms.
