Now, if you can combine a countryside paradise and add proximity to one of Portugal’s most historic and beautiful cities then surely you are onto a winner. And that’s precisely what the Monte do Serrado de Baixo is. Typically southern Portugal in ambience and style, to which we may add comfortable and utterly welcoming, it may be rustic but it is still pretty close to the World Heritage town of Évora, considered by many to be Portugal’s most beautiful city.

Thankfully, this typically Alentejo house honours the traditional architecture, its four rooms all taking plenty of advantage of the beautiful landscapes. Yet despite the lovely, simple house, it’s odds on that you will be spending much time outside, taking advantage of the garden and those wonderful shades provided by the olive trees. There’s also a further ace up the Monte do Serrado’s sleeve. Ana and Teresa, also specialise in activity tourism. By that we mean, they organise jeep rides, canoeing and countless other fun activities for the whole family.

So it’s your call whether you want to simply relax in any of the garden’s, numerous little corners read a book or just meditate. Or alternately, enjoy the many activities on offer.
