Simplicity is often the best option.

You know, simple is often the best. If you take away the veneer of artificially and pomposity, usually it’s just the basics that remain - in effect what is really important - and it’s a bit like that at the Brejo da Amada.

Located some 80 km south of Lisbon, it is one of those simple, uncomplicated places where the sum is definitely greater than its parts. Some of the best beaches in the whole of Portugal, Carvalhal beach, for example, are only 10 minutes away by car, plus the Brejos da Amada is surrounded within a natural area of what seems to be never ending pine forests.

The place itself fits in perfectly into all this – discreet, but also modern and comfortable, so the end result makes it an ideal place to breath in the true soul of the Upper Alentejo. Apart from recharging the batteries what else is there to do? It’s up to you and how you feel. Trekking, bike rides, perhaps a spot of fishing or a dip in those beaches we mentioned, some of which are truly stunning. This is the wild Atlantic coast of Europe after all and a stay at the Brejos de Amada will leave you feeling the same as a dip in the sea here – totally refreshed! Any downsides? None that we can really think of. The only thing we would suggest is take the main house if you want larger rooms.

The Bungalows, whilst great fun, are on the small side and more simple.
