We all know of its excellent all year round climate but instead of adding bricks and mortar to the mix, what it really deserves are places in tune with the natural surroundings, peace and tranquility. Indeed, what it really needs are more places like the Tapada do Gramacho.
This renovated farm lies within 7 hectares of land bordering the river Arade near the historical village of Silves and uniquely situated in a nature and bird watching area. What you get is the wonderful feeling of an old Portuguese farm with modern comfort and luxury - all set up in a peaceful place full of rest, space and nature. You won’t hear the hordes of tourists or car horns, rather the natural sounds birds singing, crickets and the wind blowing in the reed. Yet the place is not old world fuddy duddy. Under the auspices of a renowned architect, it was turned into a surprisingly trendy accommodation.
This also goes to any of the 3 well apportioned self catering apartments or 6 suites which all come with comfortable spring beds, high quality mattresses and rain showers.
Despite being a peaceful oasis, the Tapada do Gramacho is surprisingly central. A 10 minute car drive will take you to great beaches, golf courses, restaurants and several towns.
