Baixa House
Hotel Type: Apartment
Environment: City
Number of Rooms: 12
Style: Stylish
If you want to visit central Lisbon and stay in a lovely apartment rather than a hotel (say if you have a family) then the Baixa House, a group of apartments located in the heart of Lisbon’s historical Baixa quarter (Downtown), could be the perfect place for you.
It is just a 5 min. walk away from some of Lisbon's finest landmarks, including the Praça do Comercio, the Figueira and the Rossio, 10 minutes from the Chiado, right on the route of the electric tram No. 28.
Now, a little bit of info on the Baixa House: It's an old building, having been built immediately after Lisbon's 1755 earthquake, but a complete refurbishing process has given it a modern sleek feel to it. It also has a homely atmosphere with a delicate interior design which includes numerous Portuguese handicrafts. Each apartment is named after a Lisbon garden which inspires its design.
Baixa House provides a new and singular type of accommodation: serviced apartments including daily cleaning, breakfast and permanent support to satisfy any further need of the travelers.
The apartments can be rented per day, since they are cleaned on a daily basis and fresh products for breakfast are also replaced every day. During long stays bed linen and bath towels are replaced once a week. They all come with fully equipped kitchen. See rooms for further details.
Please note:
- Normal minimum stay is for 2 nights. During 15 to 30 September the minimum stay is for 3 nights. Stays for 7 nights or more have a special discount, whatever the apartment type or size.
- A breakages deposit is payable on check-in equivalent to the price of 1 night. This is fully refundable if nothing has been broken.
- The Baixa House provides the raw materials for having breakfast in the apartments. These included fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, fresh bread, butter & jams, coffee, tea, milk, cocoa, sugar, and some pastries. If you have any requests, preferences or allergies then you can let the Baixa House know at booking and it wil try to accommodate your request.
- Every day from noon to 15:00 the Baixa House cleans the apartments (this service doesn’t include linen or towel changes). If you need additional cleaning services please ladvise at the time of booking. This service will be charged apart from the booking rate, and its price will vary depending on the apartment and number of guests.
Baixa House Reviews
WE LOVED COMING "HOME" AT THE END OF EACH DAY
We spent 3 nights in Lisbon at Baixa House. What a wonderful hotel. A personal greeting and explanation of the a new city makes for a GREAT WELCOME - and we received this from Sonia. We loved Lisbon, but we also loved returning "home" each day - the space was beautifully decorated - in a comfy vintage manner, the refrigerator stocked with "homemade" goodies each day, and it felt clean and well cared for - and was cleaned daily. We loved relaxing with fresh baked bread, yoghurt, and coffee each morning. Whenever we had a question or need - be it a cab, laundry service or a suggestion in the city - it was quickly attended to. The location was great! The only note to be aware of is the lack of air conditioning - this was only a problem because it is July and was quite hot outside. The trade off was well worth it - as we had such a lovely stay - but one should be warned that this could be an issue.
We loved this hotel!
Perfect Start to our Holiday
This apt was beyond all expectations. Both before our arrival and during our stay we received exceptional service. The breakfasts were fantastic (the BEST yogurt ever!), the apt spacious, clean, well equipped and perfectly located!
Thanks to some great recommendations we enjoyed wonderful meals out, and sightseeing. You can walk or grab a tram (make sure you take tram 28) or bus anywhere. It is an ideal location to be able to sightseeing all over the city.
The rooms are clean, have great comfy beds and the bathroom and shower are pristine. There was wifi, a shop next door with two lovely men who were more than happy to chat with us, help us with the door, etc. It was nice to duck in late at night if you wanted to just pick up some snacks. (Abit higher priced than the grocery store a few blocks away, but very convenient.)
I can not recommend it highly enough. I will definately be back to Lisbon and will book here immediately without even giving a glance to any other accommodations. I promise you will not be disappointed.
