Domus Balthasar Design Hotel

This hotel has to have something going for it when it was the only Prague accommodation chosen by the Times of London's newspaper as one of its Hot 100 best hotels in Europe.

But it's actually pretty easily explained. This Design boutique hotel is a baroque building with medieval foundation mixed with 21st century design and situated on the Royal Route leading from Prague Castle, amongst the picturesque houses of Malá Strana (Lesser Quarter) and over Charles Bridge to the Old Town.

It comes with 8 rooms including 2 Double attic rooms, 3 generously spacious DeLuxe Double rooms, 2 Suites with kitchenette and 1 Royal.

All rooms are equipped with a direct dial telephone with answering machine and private number, night table telephone, fax and internet connection point (another fax and e-mail also available at the reception), multipurpose writing desk, connection cable, personal electronic safe, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities, TV with satellite reception, hi-fi mini system with CD/DVD and radio.

Luxury bathrooms are equipped with bathtub and shower, hairdryer, bathrobes and WC. Suites also have ceramic cooking stove, microwave oven and basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is served from 7:30 until 10:00 in Bohemia Bagel Café. Don’t panic if you are late down – we will wait, after all it is your holiday! The hotel is situated in a preserved historical house within UNESCO town preserve; due to this fact the house does not have a lift.

A lovely small hotel

This is a lovely small hotel, with only 8 rooms. The reception area is simple but clean and the staff were very helpful with excellent English spoken. There are quite a few steps to the higher floors, but the rooms are large and stylish. Our bathroom was modern with both a shower and a large bath. The location is perfect, just before the Charles Bridge; you literally step on street and into the the hustle and bustle of Prague. We would definitely stay again!
