Hostal La Hormiga Voladora
Hotel Type: Bed & Breakfast
Environment: Seaside (ocean front)
Number of Rooms: 11
Style: Unpretentious
The Hostal La Hormiga Voladora is one of those lovely, unassuming places that seem increasingly hard to find in this day and age, so imagine our delight when we came across it in our travels.
It is a beautifully situated and quirky seaside accommodation that fits in perfectly with the relaxed and typically Andalusian environment. Donkeys as well as horses freely trot around the local village and happily intermingle with the inhabitants, which makes an interesting change from the usual cats and dogs. Inside the Hormiga, the visitor will find the rooms to be no frills and simple, yet all are comfortable and furnished to good standards.
The bathrooms in particular are modern and tastefully decorated with seashell motifs; though it should be noted the apartments are somewhat plainer. Nevertheless, leave the gates of the Hostal La Hormiga Voladora and after a few steps you reach the superb, hardly touched, beach with its beautiful bay, white sands, dunes and clear waters – in our opinion, heaven by the sea! This get away, end of the world feel does not mean seclusion: the picturesque local village (it comes beautifully into view as you approach on the winding mountain road) offers many facilities, shops and restaurants which more than compensates the lack of services within the premises.
There are also interesting Roman ruins nearby to admire and the visitor will never be at a loss for things to do.
