Koala Tarifa offers us three apartments and two rooms around an Andalusian patio – that can be reached by independent entries in the case of the three on the top floor.

It’s actually what the Spaniards call a “patio de vecinos” – a communal yard that has been converted into an "aparthotel" with staircases where tenants would enter their houses. With names that are anagrams of Koala (Kalao, Lakoa, etc.), the apartments have a kitchen, bathroom with shower, TV, DVD,A.C., and a beautiful terrace at the roof that can be used as a solarium. They are cleaned and the beds done, daily.

Tarifa has steadily become the European capital of wind and kite surfing. The narrow, twisting streets of this fisherman’s village are crammed with shops, bar and restaurants full of life and vitality. In point of fact Marta, the owner of Koala, used to own one of these trendy shops until she and her partner Björn decided to try their hand at the world of hostelry – they will be the perfect guides to advise you where to eat, shop or swim.

Without leaving town we may visit the castle of Guzmán El Bueno, where legend tells that he flung his dagger at the Saracens for them to slay his son rather than surrender the garrison.

Koala Tarifa Reviews

Exquisite

Very nice and welcoming place. Very calm inside and outside. Very well placed in the center of the old town, 7 min walks from sea and ocean beaches. Extremely close to bars, restaurant, one language school and out life. I stayed there one week with my father in one of their apartments, and we enjoyed every bit of it. I could go to Spanish courses (30 seconds to walk), swim everyday and enjoy Spanish tapas.
Sun is there everyday and it is not suffocating as the wind blows continuously.

The city is very enjoyable and very family oriented, the surfers and youngsters are more of the other side of town/beach.

Would recommand the place for romantic stays as well as families Breakfast more than enough every morning.
