Bálcon de Córdoba
Hotel Type: Bed & Breakfast
Environment: City
Number of Rooms: 10
Style: Elegant
This two story, 10 room, 18th century building is a cool and excellent example of an Andalusian house. It takes in the best of classical, Islamic, Spanish and other influences and mixes it up to create an eclectic style that is, to say the least, very much like the city of Córdoba itself - beautiful and exciting - and one of the reasons that make it so special.
It is right in the heart of town and behind the typical exterior, guests will find three delightful, beautifully proportioned inner courtyards paved with small black & white stepping stones forming geometric figures. As is becoming of Andalusian homes worth their salt, there are fountains decorated with columns and gravestones from the Iberian Muslim period.
This hotel isn't called the “Balcony of Córdoba” for nothing. Being a multi-level construction, the building offers a striking number of balconies. Some of them small that offer an intimate atmosphere, others, such as the upper terrace, provide a fantastic close up, in your face, view of the Mosque-Cathedral. You can almost touch it.
The 10 rooms we mentioned (5 doubles, 1 deluxe, 1 junior suite, 2 suites, 1 royal suite) are spread out over two of the floors around the courtyards. All are peaceful, secluded and seemingly a world away from any street noise.
Of course, the charm that goes back centuries does not preclude air-conditioning, Internet, room service, high quality fabrics and pillows and all those other 21st sensibilities.
Mix all this together and you get a invigorating and truly pleasurable stay in one of Spain's great historic cities

A visit to the "Mezquita", once the main mosque in Spain and perhaps largest of the world, is an absolute must.
Of the many other places to visit a trip to the Jewish quarter with the old synagogue as well as numerous historical buildings.
