An authentic piece of Andalusia in the heart of Córdoba.

Here is a piece of authentic Córdoba dating back to the 17th century, complete with potted plants, beautiful central patio, lush gardens (an excellent surprise), fused iron columns, marble floors and terrace.

And we can’t forget to mention tiles. The Casa de los Azulejos actually means House of Tiles in Spanish and, true to form, they are a central plank of the beautiful decoration, just witness the courtyard, for example with “azulejos” from the renowned Mensaque factory in Seville. Thus, being located in the centre of the city, in an area that is not too touristy, the Casa de los Azulejos came as a real revelation to us.

Despite renovations over the years, it very much retains the heart of the real Córdoba. Though the eight rooms that make up the Casa de los Azulejos are, on the whole, on the small side they are beautifully decorated with antique Cordoban furniture, French windows, warm earthy colours and, being laid out around the main full patio, are full of light and a certain joi de vivre that only the Andalusians seem capable of managing.

Large windows, doors and natural fabrics add to the atmosphere. One of the cosiest areas must be the library which has books available on three of Andalusia's great loves – gastronomy, architecture and art. Speaking of gastronomy, the Azulejos' restaurant serves up an interesting fusion of Spanish and Latin American cuisine, whilst the central courtyard Cantina with its vaulted ceilings and preserved cellar offers more fare.
