Number of Rooms: 18
Style: Historic
A colonial style place to relax and unwind in utter peace.
Set in a large banana plantation that goes back to the 16th century in what was once the fertile valley of Arucas, there’s something rather colonial about the Hacienda Buen Suceso.
In more ways than one, actually, for the Buen Suceso is owned by the Marquis de Arucas, whose family also owns most of the land in the region as well as the botanical gardens. Whatever its history, the present serves up a welcoming cocktail of peace, tranquillity and no little amount of style. This is thanks in large part to the sensitive restoration the Buen Suceso underwent in 1997, where it managed to retain its charming colonial feel whilst being thoroughly modernised. All 18 rooms are lovely, taking in the combination of excellent decoration and comfort with contemporary bathrooms, and also a certain Arabesque style.
Everything also seems to be designed in order to take the place of life more slowly and relax, whether this means just lounging by the swimming pool or sitting in the patio on the ever so comfortable low slung chairs with nothing to distract, the peace. Except, that is, perhaps the cicadas at night chirping away.
There’s really no excuse to leave and there’s even restaurant serving up local dishes, but should you wish to explore beyond the Buen Suceso’s walls, there’s plenty of things to see and do.
