First thing to know about this hotel is that it is right in the heart of Garachico, just opposite to the Castle of San Miguel. Plus point!

Second thing is that this 18th century country house has been recently and fully restored to its former glory. 2nd plus point! The good stuff remains, such as the wooden ceilings, but modern facilities also now abound and some rooms have been made larger. Thirdly, it offers wonderful views of Garachico and beyond. Just go to the rooftop terrace if you don’t believe us. The last intangible point is the hospitality of the place, which no amount of luxury or views can ever fully substitute. So if you combine the all at a place like Gara Hotel Rural, the scene is set for a pretty special stay that is as active or relaxing as you want.

Couch potatoes can simply make the most of the natural swimming pools available, which interestingly were formed after the volcanic eruption on the island in the early 18th century, take in a massage or Jacuzzi in the spa centre, or just hang around in the terrace with a drink in hang and admire those views. Those of a more active nature have much to discover and admire.

The local area takes in the protected areas of Teide and Corno Natural Parks. Bycicles are also on hand. The rooms 16 in all, most of which afford great views of the sea and Garachico. The old world wooden ceilings remain for most of them, but since the refurbishment Plasma TV, DVDs, Wi-Fi connection, fridge, safe and shower (no bath) have been added. A personal touch also means that no two are alike.

Children are welcome: Cots for children under 2 are free. 3 to 6 year olds: Extra beds are free of charge 7 to 12 years are charged 50 % of the room per night/person for an extra bed.
