Palacio de la Serna
Hotel Type: Hotel
Environment: Village
Number of Rooms: 27
Style: Historic
The interesting 18th century palace has in turns been a people’s house, Military Academy and now it is an charming hotel owned by the well-known interior designer and painter Eugenio Bermerjo.
The presence of Eugenio is everywhere to be seen. He has decorated the whole place with an eclectic mix of furnishings - some classical, some antique and some more modern – where colour and boldness is an ever-present feature. This goes on into the rooms, which like the rest of the house have all been personally and vividly decorated by the host. Eugenio’s own paintings take pride of place and artists will unsurprisingly find this a great place to relax and unwind. Eugenio is only too happy to give out free advice and allow the use of his studio. Budding Picasso’s will surely love it.
Those not inclined to artistic pursuits will still find much to do and admire for the hotel is located in an area of great beauty (Cabañeros, Tablas de Daimiel, Lagunas de Ruidera, valle de Alcudia come to mind). Other activities also include biking, an outdoor swimming pool and horse riding.
In short, Palacio de la Serna really is a hotel that knows about the art of hospitality.
