Lovely hotel located in the historic town of Cardona.
The 19th century building that makes up the Hotel Brenom started off life as a school for the Carmelite order of nuns, and it still retains many heavenly touches to this day, not least of which its location in the heart of beautiful Cardona, some 90 kilometres from Barcelona. Others include an excellent restoration that takes in all the prerequisites for a totally comfortable stay.
So, modern bathrooms and televisions go hand in hand with functional decoration that’s there not just to impress but to make a stay here as pleasant as possible. Just witness the lovely mosaic tiles on the ground floor, and spacious rooms. A must do at the hotel is to visit the terrace on the top floor, from which beautiful vistas of the castle appear before your very eyes – it really is a treat.
Other suggestions are to enjoy a meal at the excellent Les Monges in-house restaurant. As for the town of Cardona itself it’s thousand years of history have imbued it with much character and charm and unusual feautures, not least of which is the Salt Mountain, with galeries that reach into the earth a thousand metres.
Then of course, it is almost a stone throw’s away from Barcelona, making it an ideal base from which to discover the many facets of Catalunia both urban and natural.
