Just 25 minutes from Barcelona this beautiful 19th century villa is the result of a plantation owner’s desire to build something a little out of the ordinary and settle back in the “mother” country. The exterior of what was once Dr Cristófol Cuadras’s private villa has clean and simple lines.

The interior has been restored and, in keeping with the original design, features stucco-work, balconies and mosaic floor tiles to retain an air of colonial style circa 1874. The rooms on the first floor are slightly larger with higher ceilings whilst the second floor rooms keep the original wooden beams for a slightly more rustic feel. Throughout though, there is a sensation of space and light, airy relaxation. The hotel is in the centre of the village of Sant Pere de Ribes on the western edge of the Garraf Natural Park and close to local vineyards which open up their doors for those who want to try some of the local wines. The lively town of Sitges is 5 minutes away, with Tarragona 35 minutes to the south.

Beaches, countryside and some of the best European culture are right on the doorstep and if you are looking for a slightly more laid-back, calmer alternative to Barcelona this could well be it.

Wonderful restaurants abound and the local diet is blessed with fresh fish and shellfish from the sea as well as more hearty mountain fare. Good connections are ensured with Barcelona (Prat) airport 20 minutes from the hotel and Reus 40 minutes. The Double and Superior Double Rooms have a minimum stay of two nights during weekend periods.
