Hotel Type: Hotel

Rocamador has been described as another world and, in truth, this is more than simply a hotel. It seems to be a place where history, nature, gastronomy and culture all blend into one marvellous location.
The 16th century monastery itself resembles a small walled village rising up from the green fields of Extremadura - one of the least explored areas of Spain. Inside, restoration and furnishing have been sensitively undertaken under the auspices of Luciá Dominguin and Carlos Tristancho, the end result of which is that existing structures have been maintained, without sacrificing any of the luxuries of modern comforts. The restaurant in the old chapel is also superb.
Pretty historic towns such as Olivenza. Merida and Jerez de los Caballeros are all to be found nearby and worth visiting whilst the National Park of Aracena is a spectacular natural phenomenon.
Portugal is also only about 45km away. Furthermore, Rocamador is in the “Bellota” ham region, possibly the finest ham producing area in the world.
