Set in the heart of the impressive Jerte valley, a fine sight particularly in the springtime when the cherry trees start to blossom, the Finca el Carpinteiro is a magnificent example of how to restore and upgrade an old country house.

On arriving one comes up to a stonewall building which, though attractive in itself, gives off the feel of simple rural ambience. As soon as you enter, though, the atmosphere is definitely one of luxury. Materials used are of high quality and taste including the chestnut and high wood beam ceilings. Obviously the hospitable owners, Ana and Javier, have put a great deal of thought into the decor. The old granite rock, for example, has been impressively incorporated into the ample living room whilst decor, though not necessarily antique, fits in well with the setting.

Ana herself has painted much of the furniture, further giving the house an original and homely feel to it. As for the bedrooms, these are all located on the upper floor and have windows that overlook the pleasant countryside. Some come with canopies, black slate floors and high-beamed ceilings. All are extremely comfortable and well decorated. Do try and eat in the impressive dining room. Breakfast, in particular is first class.

As for activities, the area is ideal for trekking, horse riding and biking. Or simply make the most of the local nature reserve “Garganta de los Infiernos”.

Idilico lugar de reposo

Estuvimos alojados en Junio en esta preciosa finca situada en uno de los parajes más bonitos de España, el Valle del Jerte. Nos costó encontrarla puesto que se haya escondida entre árboles y una preciosa vegetación.

Tras pasar el umbral de su entrada, nos quedamos sorprendidos por un conjunto de edificios en diferentes alturas con colores tierra y jardines cuidadosamente diseñados.

La pareja que lo regenta Javi y Ana, que puedo decir, encantadores, lograron que nuestra estancia fuese muy agradable gracias a su atención y a las entretenidas conversaciones que tuvimos, buena gente.

Para recomendar sin duda alguna.
