Pazo a Nugalla
Hotel Type: Manor House
Environment: Countryside
Number of Rooms: 9
Style: Stylish
Dating back to the 16th century, Nugalla is a fine example of how to harmonise medieval Galician architecture with elements from today’s modern world.
The classical constructions of stone, wood and tiles, for example, have been strengthened with the addition of steel and aluminium. Decoration is also a pleasant mix of the old and the new and the end result certainly works well. The house itself is located in an interior valley near Santiago de Compostela (20km) and has nine sizeable rooms, one of which includes a large and impressive library.
Finding a bedtime read here will thus not be difficult. Marissa, the very helpful owner, will be only too happy to provide details of activities, such as trekking through areas of great natural beauty (e.g. Ancares, Capelada, Caurel etc).
This is indeed a very restful and welcoming place, providing wonderful views of the local area, together with a central location that allows for the organization of a wealth of cultural and historic trips.
