IThe chic&basic Atocha – a cool, centrally located, value for money accommodation. In this case, the chic&basic Atocha is actually situated some 100 metres from Madrid’s main train station – Atocha, hence the name. Whilst not quite so central as, say, the group’s “Colors” or “Mayerling”, given its price, the value is just as excellent.
We say not quite so central, but the chic&basic Atocha is still pretty well located by the attractive Retiro Park and easy to get to on foot to many of Madrid’s impressive sights (The Plaza Mayor is very nearby). Plus if you’re arriving at Atocha Station then it’s incredibly easy to get to.
As befits the group’s philosophy, rooms are minimalist yet rather stylish actually with calming and clever use of lighting (a trade mark of any chic&basic accommodation). A modern hotel needs modern amenities and this one is no exception. It includes an advance music system, a public area with free Wi-Fi, water and coffee to help you unwind at your own pace, and also a bar for snacks. This simple, clean, no nonsense approach is particularly geared to the young at heart, in this case the young at heart travelling through Atocha Station.
Of course, the excellent rate for such a central location means that some corners are cut. Breakfast, for example, which consists of some orange juice, fruit and croissants, is served in a bag outside your room, but even so overall service is pretty good with a friendly and helpful staff to boot.
