Few hotels are able to offer sumptuousness and intimacy, tradition and modernity, but Santo Mauro certainly encapsulates all these.

Originally built in 1895 in the grand French classical style for the Duke of Santo Mauro, it is located in one of Madrid’s most elegant quarters and has been transformed into a luxury hotel.

Santo Mauro has been called possibly the most Parisian building in Madrid, unsurprisingly so as it was designed by Louis Legrand and encompassed by a 1000 square metres Gallic style garden.

Inside, although the decor and furnishings tend toward the contemporary with their vibrant and modern colours much has been kept of the old palace, including Italian marble and ancient engravings.

The library is possibly the loveliest room of all and is now home to a fine restaurant. The old dancing hall, presently a meeting room is also notable and, like the library, leads out to the garden. Some of the rooms are duplex.
