Hotel Nord
Hotel Type: Hotel
Environment: Village
Number of Rooms: 8
Style: Rustic
Hotel Nord in Majorca is in a small village (Estellencs, 400 souls) down in a valley on the west side of the Sierra de Tramontana – between Andratx and Banyalbufar. The stone and whitewash house has 8 bedrooms restored with loving care by Antonia, the owner. All have an ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, satellite TV and a safe. Right in the middle we have a friendly patio where buffet breakfast can be partaken – or else savour home-grown products at dinner. Vegetarians are fully taken into consideration.
There are several sunny terraces from where to study the little houses nearby or the impressive mountains at a distance – and a sitting room with a comforting fireplace for those days – very few – when it’s a pleasure to enjoy it.
Estellencs is like a post card, with its narrow cobbled lanes that slide towards the sea whilst locals placidly wonder about. This doesn’t mean that we are in Brigadoon – all sorts of bars and restaurants with the most varied array of food await us, as well as well stocked souvenir shops. At the bottom of the valley and as a continuation of the hamlet, you can follow a small road that will take you to a shingle beach with transparent water and a bar to relax and study the subtleties of the Mediterranean Sea – walking there and back is firmly recommended. If we feel like a white-sand beach, Sant Elm is only half an hour away by an spectacular coastal road.
